Oden’s Extreme Double Mint Snus Review
Oden’s Extreme Double Mint is a snus which I find very interesting. When reviewing a snus, I look at five categories: Flavor, Appearance, Longevity, Value, and Overall snus worthiness.
Here’s how I rated Oden’s Extreme Double Mint Portion Snus…
Flavor: 5/5
My only previous exposure to Oden’s Double Mint was in the white dry format which takes a while to develop flavor.
This snus is a flavor-forward mix of spearmint and menthol. Since its an original portion the flavor is apparent mere minutes after placement.
It’s not sweet at all which is actually something I look for in mint snus.
The tobacco is a distant third flavor with spearmint and menthol taking center stage. Salt is minimal but present.. Altogether very balanced.
Appearance: 5/5
This is a large regular portion snus. The pouches in the two cans I purchased both exhibit excellent consistency and are moist and evenly packed. They are sealed well and none of the portions opened during use.
Longevity: 5/5
With a whopping 2.2% nicotine per portion, this snus packs a punch. I usually pop a few strong portions a day but only after meals to prevent the head rush.
These portions retain a nice cooling sensation for a good 90 minutes but the mint fades after around 45 minutes.
Value: 4/5
Oden’s/GN Tobacco cans usually contain around 18-20 portions. Pricing is currently $2.35 USD which places it in the range of a value snus. Weight is 18g per can.
Considering the lower price point of GN products compared with those of SM’s premium offerings, Oden’s Double Mint presents a good value that still offers excellent quality.
Overall: 4/5
These long lasting and flavorful portions are extremely consistent and the menthol makes this a little more special than an ordinary mint snus.
The can features a striking mirrored foil label but DOES NOT have a catch lid. This is both a blessing and a curse.
No catch lid means that the plump moist portions won’t end up getting crushed but it also means that the discards must be disposed of in a wastebin etc. Plus I always liked GN’s signature flip catch lid.
Excellent moisture content and persistent flavor makes this something I will need to have in my chiller at all times.
Portion comfort is good although not on par with the Natufibe material I’ve grown accustomed the comparably priced Swedish Match XRANGE Snus offerings. I’ll admit it, I’m a fan of slim long portions and would hope to see some slim format offerings from GN in the future.
Drip is present but is without the bitterness associated with many other extra strong portions. If you are a fan of spearmint and menthol without sweetness, do yourself a favor and check out Oden’s Extreme Double Mint Snus.
