Jakobsson’s Fläder Portion Snus Review – A Classic Snus Rediscovered!

Jakobsson’s Fläder Portion Snus Review – A Classic Snus Rediscovered!

Jakobssson’s Fläder Portion Snus is the reborn version of the old Gotlandssnus Fläder (nicknamed “Gotlandssnus Green”) revived under the Jakobsson’s snus brand by popular demand and for those who never got to try it….

Back to the future with Jakobsson’s Fläder Snus

Fläder is the Swedish word for Green. In the past, American snusers called it Gotlands Green, which infuriated the folks at Gotlandssnus but didn’t affect the taste.

Author Jennifer Campbell of SnusCENTRAL.orgThis snus is full of green flavor! I would describe the flavors as being crisp and sweet. I can almost taste hints of apple peal, a floral taste and tobacco.  There are also a few sour notes like a sour green apple and elderberry.

The drip is not bad! I’m not a huge fan of original portions because of the drip. I would rather this be a white portion, but all in, all its enjoyable! The flavor reminds me of apple picking in the fall, drinking apple cider and eating hot doughnuts! It’s a snus you can really use all year long but it definitely brings back sweet memories of fall.

Moving on to the portions,  There are 20 portions in the can which are very moist and plump in size.  Each portion weighs in at a full one gram; something very rare in the snus world today.

The soft portion material is almost cotton like in your lip as well as discrete, especially for women users such as myself. I felt no irritation or discomfort when I used this snus for about a week.

Nicotine and a snus can based on Gotlandssnus history

Let’s talk nicotine strength. Fläder’s Nicotine Strength is sitting at a 1.0% which is at the high end of normal strength.  I was never a smoker in the past, I only vaped but I was always either a 3% or 0% nicotine consumer, so I’m not a big nic junky.  Flader’s nicotine isn’t too high and does not bother me too much.

Jakobssons Flader Portion SnusI just really love the flavors this snus brings to the table. If you love a really strong nicotine hit, this might not be a snus you would seek out.  The nicotine is present but not something that screams at you.  This makes it perfect for this kind of snus where you want to savor the flavor for those special moments.

The can design is very clean, with the Jakobssons nautical theme, steam ship and bold letters in a nice gold font. This design adds a classy sense of history and style that’s all Gotlandssnus!

The very bright green swatches on the catch lid is a nice touch but the down side of the catch lid is the smaller size which only fits a few used portions.  If you are a person who likes to use the catch lid, be aware that you might need to keep an eye out for trash cans.

In summary I really enjoyed Jakobssons Flader snus!  It’s a great all year-round snus that gets over looked and I don’t know why!

Jakobssson’s Fläder Portion Snus offers a lot and it needs to be tried! Pick up a can or roll; you will not be disappointed.

Until next time, see you on the snus side!
