V2 Tobacco Discontinues Brandy Alexander and a Phantom snus
V2 Tobacco A/S, the largest snus manufacturer in Denmark, announced this morning their decision to discontinue Nordströmmen Brandy Alexander Loose Snus and Phantom Classic Medium Portion Snus. While no reason was given, low sales volume is the usual reason for pruning the product lines.
In the case of V2, the delistings could also be a result of Snus Master Marc Vogel wanting to reduce his workload in order to spend more time in his lavish office.
Nordströmmen Brandy Alexander Loose Snus was originally one of the 5 snuses included in the 2009 Limited Edition. Chad Jones of Snubie.com started a grass roots campaign petitioning for the return of Brandy Alexander. Finally in 2012, V2 relented and reissued Nordströmmen Brandy Alexander Loose Snus just so Chad would stop calling.
Phantom Classic Medium Portion Snus was positioned between the larger Phantom Classic Portion and the smaller Phantom Classic Mini Portion snus. The size just didn’t catch the fancy of the Phantom Classic flavor profile fans enough to justify continuing to produce it.
We spoke with Moe Unz, Snus Legend and Store Manager at SnusCentral Snus Shop for his take. He confirmed that sales of these two products were disappointing, although he still has a couple of rolls of Brandy Alexander in his personal snus chiller. SnusCentral.com has already taken both out of it’s catalog. While saying the delistings were justified, Unz would not rule out that Marc Vogel received a side benefit of more time in his suite of windowed offices.
We tried to speak with Patrick Vogel of V2 Tobacco for his input but Patrick was too busy picking up the slack from Marc while still running the very successful V2 Tobacco empire.
Brandy Alexander will live on for a bit as Chad has 5000 cans in his freezer at home. Phantom Classic users will continue enjoying either the Original portion or the Mini portion. Rest in Peace.
